Just an update.....I have a 1972 Maverick Grabber. It currently has a 308 but it's getting ready to get the 347 out of my 89 Mustang GT street/strip car that ran a 7.039 in the 1/8th. I'm also putting in a 4.11 Richmond mini spool in it!! This thing is gonna fly!!!

The only thing I don't like is a spool for the street, to noisy around the turns. Other then that you are going to have FUN!

Yeah...the spool is my only concern too. The motor specs are as follows...

Coast High Performance "Street Fighter" 347 all forged short block.
    Ford Racing Z Cam
    AFR 205 Heads w/ 58cc chambers
    Holley 750 Carb
    CSR Electric water pump
Torker 289 Intake port matched to a 1262 gasket
    Crane XRi Electronic ignition

    Trans:
    Built C4 RMVB
    Cheetah SCS Turbo Shifter
    4500 Stall

    Should be fun! :yahoo:

Hope you are having better luck with your Coast High Perf. stroker kit than I did. Mine must have had oiling issues with the crank. After the 3rd spun rod bearing I gave up. I thought the first 2 times was from not having an oil scraper/windage tray, put one on and after it spun 1 and 5 rods again I sold it cheap and got a stock bottom end.

Mine would run a couple years at a time but I HARDLY drove the car. 3 times in 8 years was unaccaptable. I did make some runs at the track but I think in 8 years I put less than 5000 miles on the car. Twice it happened at the track during a run, then I put in the windage tray. the third time was on the freeway and left me stuck on the road in Az. summer heat. That was enough for me. I don't miss the power though as I haven't raced in years. Pretty sure it was just a bad crank but I was done with the rebuilds and became paranoid to drive it anymore. I really don't feel a difference without the stroker on the street, everything else on motor is the same, but might see the difference if I get it to the track again. I think if I get my 5 speed in it will make up for what I lost taking out the stroker.

So, you're probably looking at 6.60s - 6.70s in the Maverick, huh? That is flying. Post some pictures of your Maverick for us to see. It looks like a nice car from your avatar.:thumbs2:

Ok I guess I just dont know, I have heard of these widage trays before ( and have asked about them) I saw a pix of one. So I ask:1) what are they out of? 2) do you order them or pick a part? 3) what should I expect to pay for one? 4) are there race versions vs.stock? Thanx, Michael

Years ago I bought a Boss 302 windage tray for my 306 build from the local Ford dealer. Now you can purchase them from just about any company that builds and sells oil pans - Canton, Moroso, etc.
