ok, first parts are mounted under the dash.
i had ordered the firewall insulation from autokrafters but had to give up on installing it fairly quickly. it did not fit on any end, neither of the mounting holes lined up...

lower dash test fitted, steering column adjusted.
ran into more problems - brake pedal is definitely sitting too high.
also, the consolette won't clear the shifter hump...

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Is the brake pedal original to the car? Theres several pedals for our cars with different heights. Theres a thread that Frank made and it lists the different measurements.

the brake pedal is, but the master cylinder and the push rod are not. for my all wheel disc brakes, i'm using a mid 80ies mustang master cylinder.
i will get an adjustable push rod to take care of that!

also i got me some three point seat belts. i'm not sure whether i like the way they are mounted, but it surely is safer that way!

there have been some posts about 3 point seat belts on here. usualy people will run some sort of extention for the top mount to lower about 6 to 9"s. ive heard of people using ford van seat belt extentions. you may want to look into that.

    Looking good.(y)

Here is a pic of the seat belt drops that I got. They were out of a church van, so I feel extra-safe and a little blessed. ;)

They came out of a mid-90s Ford Passenger Van, and don't look really out of place ... pretty subtle. They bolted to the top mount, and they do pivot, so they will move with the belt. I gave them a test-fit, and they were quite good. I got an aftermarket set of seat belts, and the retractor will have to be taken apart to thread the belt through the ring. Does not look like a big deal to do, but it will need to be reassembled with the retractor wound up.

CaptainComet was right - the colour is hard to capture on photo, as it changes with the light from black to blue. i limped to the garage today and took some more pictures:
