Great Job. I'm sure you will have no problem selling them. If and when I got the extra money I'll order one.
It would be nice if you post a link. Might help your sales. I gave it a quick look and didn't see it.
Not to knock your bars or anyone elses but it seems to me that the loop put in to clear a Ford distributor completely renders it useless or less than optimal for stiffening up the front end....I think a better alternative is what i did to my Mustang....A straight bar spanning the towers right behind the distributor attached to brackets welded to the towers....Again, not to knock...I'm just a "scratch my head" kinda guy......Good luck with them
I have a habit of over thinking things myself. Not to knock yours either but if you did away with the Heim joints then it wouldn't have any flex. If you think about it the Heim joints act like a hinge. They will work if the force is applied at 90 degrees but at 89 degrees they will want to swing out of the way. A solid mount will be better than a flexible mount. You’re right about a straight bar will not flex in the middle and act like a spring when force is compressing the ends together. Either bar is better than nothing but in my mind both could be improved in the design to make the perfect M/C bar or I’m over thinking things again.
As a over thinker myself, I think your both over thinking. You always want a little flex or give. I love the look of it. Stiff is what I would want but not solid. IMHO
I would say you want to get rid of 99% but if it's solid you can get metal fatigue and cracking. I'am not an Engr but I remember reading about how Herny Ford tryed cement railroad ties and the trains fell off the tracks because of no give. I know it's not the same but like I said it was IMHO.
I may be remembering wrong but I think the early Shelbys had a loop around the distr. as well. If good enough for Shelby good enough for me. : ) I am taken aback by the responses, someone here took the time to make these. Isn't being outrageous with price and then has to defend it?
Not the early one's No defense needed.......I merely pointed out that a straight bar seems stronger if you're serious about eliminating any tower deflection and camber changes during hard cornering...For the street the bars with the hoop probably will stiffen the front up somewhat..I think Shelby's had them when running dual quads or an oval air cleaner
