Well, the back story is that I covered that up when I restored it the first time in highschool. My patch panel was more of a band-aid than a replacement panel. Here is the before pic, check out the drivers floor. Now its time to fix it the right way.
Ah well. I don't mind the work. We have plenty of sheet metal. But thanks for the offer! I keep forgetting you are right over the bridge. I've got some rear L and R passenger panels to fix also. But from frank's posts (http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=68542&page=21), I think Im gonna use Mustang replacements there. And maybe work on subframe connectors too.
When your done this guy might have to change his add.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973...tZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
I had to replace all four pans in mine and used Gen 1 Mustang. They take a little massaging, well a lot actually; but the contours are very similar so in the end they fit quite well.
it looked so nice in the beginning, and i couldnt believe the rust in it .going to be a real nice car when your done i like it a lot good luck and keep the pics coming thanks
Is this tach an aftermarket unit; my car has one also? I've been wondering if it was factory/dealer installed item or someone put it there. Im thinking I will most likely remove it whenever I come up w/ resources for paint job.
That is a Ford hood tach, available over the parts counter back in the day. They bring BIG bucks on ebay and at swap meets. Mojo....I would leave it on there. If not...I will take it off your hands!
Craig, I dont think mine is a "Ford" tach. It is made by Dixco, but if Ford put them on, then I guess it can be considered a Ford tach? I bought mine from JCWhitney about 14 years ago. Craig is right though, on eBay a working Dixco (or other Ford tach) usually go for $300 plus. Hold on to what you got!
OK guys. Craig...I will leave it there. Thanks for the heads-up on the tach. My tach needle is also froze somewhere midrange the scale. I had seen some new tach go big bucks $350.00 at places like CJ Pony Parts; I just was not sure if these cars came w/ hood mounted tachs. I will post tach pix tommorrow. Happy Thanksgiving All...
Got some more sheet metal cut out today. So far so good, no surprises. Drivers rear: Passengers rear: Passenger front: Also had some rust in the engine bay and along the drivers side bumper mount: Its almost time to start replacing sheet metal. Im thinking of getting a bead/flange roller. We are also looking into getting a sheet metal brake.
