i took a couple of the front spring area today. I also got the serpentine belt installed, the idler pulley need to be changed to a grooved style from an 04ish mustang gt. Got the starter installed as well as the alternator conversion done. You need a 44" belt gates # 5060440. I will clean up the wiring later. Installed the two aluminum spares I found at the wrecking yard. They are from a taurus with 5 on 4.25 lug pattern so my brother inlaw redrilled them using an axle as a template for the 5 on 4.5 pattern. The center also had to be opened , the wheel fit in my lathe easy enough.

I have been following your thread, really like your ideas, and have always liked the look of the Ford aluminum spare wheels. Where they all made with the 5 on 4.25 bolt pattern?

Thanks for the information on the wheels, are you planning to use different tires? If so, what do you think will work on these wheels? Thanks again!

I plan to run either a set of front runners or some 135r15 vw tires. They should work with up to around a 205 tire.

    Thanks Again

Appreciate the information and keep us up to date on your progress. I really like the way your can looks, back at that time regular guys would save and build the car paycheck to paycheck, usually get front wheels first, strip off the front bumper, and get as big a rear tire as you could fit on black stock rims,....brings back memories!
