recently my car stopped starting, when i would turn the key absolutely nothing would happen so i replaced the alternator, the battery, the voltage regulator, the solenoid switch and the battery cables. now the same thing is happening again and when i tried to jump the car it started as soon as the jumper cables were connected to the battery(the keys weren't even in the car) and a real nasty sound was coming from the carburetor. what do ya think is wrong

sounds like the wires on the starer solenoid are hooked up wrong, maybe thats why it tried to start when applying power. Might also be the ignition switch.

Sounds like possibly the ignition switch. Unplug the small lead from the starter switch,on the firewall, and see if it still wants to crank. If not,I'd say ignition switch. If it is still cranking, the starter switch is bad.:)

 I think Ryan's right and now one or more (3 total) of the fusible links to your starter solenoid or alternator could fried, examine them. They are like $3.99 each at Napa.

Make sure your starter solenoid is grounded well. If its not, the solenoid can't work.

you should get a test light instead. you can use it to trace the power. its alot cheaper than the cables and other parts your going to buy not needing them.
