My 71 Comet came w/black bucket seats. I belive Ford called the material in the inserts comfort weave. I have been told by various trim shops that no one makes this material any more. I'm pretty sure Mustangs had it so I find that hard to believe given the broad array of vintage Mustang stuff that is offered. Does anybody know where I might find it?

Those seats look exactly like mine but up close the material looks like cloth. Mine is like woven vinyl, you can almost see through it. Is it cloth? I wish I had a picture of mine right now.

That close up picture I posted is the Comfort Weave material for a 1971 Maverick ... It is 100% woven vinyl ....

I assume Mercury used the same Material .... It was available in Black, Green or Red from what I have seen.

Here is a Closer Close up ...

Yeah I just went to the garage and looked at mine and it's the same. Mine is solid black so it's kinda hard to see the pattern I guess your color threw me off a bit. Your door panels look great who did them?

I know there is a place in Ohio that had some but we took all of it, I beleive they were the last place to have some for sale.

SMS will have it, they pretty much have everything, and they are awesome to deal with. I've bought from them a few times.

With regards to comfortweave, I was looking at an office chair at work recently and I noticed it had a woven vinyl back VERY similar to comfortweave. Is there hope for the future?

I saw your car at Year One when Chip Foose was in town for the car show. Beautiful restoration, by the way. Did it originally have comfortweave and if it did what is your trim code? I emailed SMS for samples and I was curious if it was OEM for our cars. Mine has solid embossed vinyl and is miserably hot in the summer so I would definitely prefer that material.

Stabber, Let me know if you find the comfortweave or not, I have 4 yards sitting on a roll right here at my house. Willing to part with some of it, enough to do a pair of seats.

I am wondering abt this material. Does it allow air to pass thru it "breathable"?
    Is it a cloth fabric?

I don't think it's breathable, I think it's vinyl with the pattern on it.
