Only 1971 Mavericks were available with Comfortweave. My Grabber did not come with it from the factory .. it originally had a vinyl bench. 1972 cars had standard vinyl inserts ... no comfortweave.
Thanks for the info. Chuck at SMS was very helpful and sent about 8 samples, all breathable comfortweave material. Looks like high quality stuff.
That is all NOS material so it should be quality. Rumor has it that the ONLY machine ever built to make Comfortweave Material was destroyed in a fire in 1971. That is why no Ford vehicles have had it since 1971. They did offer another type of weave I think starting in 1973 but it is a cloth weave .. not vinyl .. and looks a lot different. I think they called it KNIT .. not WEAVE. If you look closely at Repop Mustang Comfortweave upholstery ... it is not really Comfortweave ... just stamped vinyl made to look like real comfortweave.
That's actually what I have now. They advertise it as comfortweave but it's just embossed with a substandard pattern. I wasn't very happy but they were fairly inexpensive. If I had known that it wasn't the real thing I would have waited to recover the seats. Live and learn.
I know this post is from last month...but I did a long post about finding a 2nd supplier of OEM comfortweave last year: Great News! - 2nd NOS/OEM Comfortweave Supplier Found !!! http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=69247&highlight=comfortweave ...just in case anyone else is interested in re-upholstering their seats in this material. - Roger
