Bryant was nice to give up his Sat to hang out with me and help me get my car ready for AZ. We got a lot of stuff done. We put the radiator back on and hoisted the car back up. Neck we started working on the nitrous bottle. Here is our new helper, he is great with wrenches. We installed the mounting bracket with a few bolts which was straight forward. The tunnel is a little more narrow than the bracket but it worked out ok. Here is what it looks like from under the car. It's not a great picture but it looks really nice. We then installed the blow off tube which also came out great. Next we welded in the exhaust bung and capped it off for now. We took out the cutouts and used some races (maybe they were spacers, not sure) and cut them in half to use as handles to remove the cutouts.
Oh yea and we made new battery hold downs. We used 1/2 all thread and put holes into the floor to fasted the battery down. Used a thick straight piece of steel. I gotta get a pic of that.
looks like you did have a productive day. i do have a suggesstion for your cut outs. ive never done it but have had the idea rolling around in my head for awhile and i think with the input from some of the talent on here it can be done. take a latch like one on an air box(obviously something a lil stronger) and weld it to the exhaust or some brakets off the pipe and cut a couple grooves in the cut out cover for the latch to catch in and then lock it in. very quick to install and remove. what you think?
I think it's not a bad idea but the cut outs with the wing nuts really aren't that hard to remove and install. But if someone could come up with some nice clamps that would work it would be awesome.
There are all kinds of extras you can add to a nitrous setup to make it more safe to use. you could start with a $300 kit and sink $3000 into extra switches and safety electronics.
Scooper & Blugene, Do you think we could get together and get Bryant to move to Texas? How nice would that be. Again cool work by Bryant. Rick
it will shut off the nitrous if the fuel pressure drops for any reason. it will stop from melting plugs and pistons.
I've been in Texas. My parents are moving back to san diego this year from Dallas. They tried for 17 years to get me to move out there and couldn't do it. You guys will have to come up with something really good to get me out there.
I forgot to post this, we got this done that day which I think came out sweet . . . 1/2" all thread with nuts and washers on the top and bottom and we used a thich piece of steel and drilled holes in it and sprayed it black.
Well if you plan on racing when you guys come to Phoenix you are going to have to put a battery cut off switch out back. SHould probably check the rules for how the battery needs to be mounted and secured to be make sure that will pass tech.
