I'm doing a bumper swap from my 71 2dr parts car to my 76 2dr Project. The rear valance has tabs across the top for mounting, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to secure it at the bottom. Are the top tabs enough? Or is there something missing? The Valance seemed pretty loose when it was still on the 71.
    Thanks.

There are tabs on the inside ends of the early valence that match up with locations inside the quarter panels where they both fasten to each other. It's been a while since I actually looked at this location but I believe I recall it correctly.

Bob's right, there's one in each corner. I just did this a few years ago and should be able to remember better... Seems like the part on the valence has a square block (keeps it from turning) with a long machine thread screw that snaps into it. These screws fit into matching holes in the lower fenders where you install two sheetmetal washer-head nuts over them. Best I can recall for now.

Russ just jogged my memory on what is back there - yes there are 2 spot welded little brackets on each end of the inside of the valence - I believe that the rear lip on the quarters has the matching holes where the fastening screws go through.

This also reminded me that I need 2 of those spot welded brackets for my own valence before it can go back together:idea:

    Rear Valance Brackets

Well there doesn't seem to be any brackets on my valance. I wonder if anyone out there has a picture of the backside of a Maverick rear valance so that I can try to duplicate these brackets. If not I'm sure I can come up with something to help secure it.

My valence came off a rust bucket, with only a couple of usable parts. I can see where there were brackets once installed, but no longer there.

I assume that a bolt came through the inside of the rear panel into a threaded bracket on the valence?

Pictures of what I'm looking for - 1 is rusted away and the only decent looking one on 2 valences is all twisted. Reason why I need 2 lefts and 2 rights.

The link below is from a post I posted back in July :)

I think the flat bit is supposed to be wedged under the lip on the inside edge of the Valance and then bolted through the holes in the quarters. It looks like if you where to flip the flat parts of the two bolt assembly's over (from the way they are shown) they would be at the right angle to get a good bite on the valance lip

You can see how the tab that looks good is twisted. It mounts straight like the one in the rusted photo but with the key type hole in it. It's been so long since I took my valence off, I have no idea what the hardware even looks like anymore

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
The bad news is that no one makes those brackets(including stangs). At least i cant find them online. I was lucky enough to get good ones with mine. Im going to give them a few extra tack welds and a treatmeant of POR15.
