im thinking about buying a 74 maverick from a junk yard to do as a father son project with my dad. i am wondering about the grills. could i put a grill from like a 70 on it? i dont like the lights in the grill. my dad had a 70 back in the day. im basicly wondering the swapability of parts between years

i have big plans for this build and it will not be a stock job
i have a 351c that is dieing to become the heart of something

thanks for any insight you might be so kind to offer

    Welcome aboard.

The grille will bolt right on. The 351c is a whole different ballgame. Gonna give you some problems.

Yes, the grilles are the same size for all years. The problem you will have is where to put the turn signals if you keep your 1974 big bumper. You would most likely need to do a full swap to the small bumper and use the 70-72 turn signals.

The grille without the lights will bolt in but you will need to come up with a parking light/turn signal light solution. You could do a small bumper swap.

yeah i figure it will give me some trouble but thats nothing i cant work out. i know the c4 trans in it bolts up so its just the motor mounts and clearance issues. but for $700 im ok with having to put some thought into it. im gonna look into those right now
i was just wondering how hard it would be to get the look i wanted with the lightless grille
well if i get it i know ill be on here a lot asking for insight and ideas

Depends on what engine the c-4 was behind. The 200 had a different bell housing than the 250 and 302. :)

It will drop in with the manifolds, if you smooth the outside of the manifolds. It is TIGHT! When I dropped my cleveland in the first time to check for clearance. I picked up the car trying to get it back out.

It's probably a rust free shell. Someone should get before they crush it. What's the condition of the car? How much do they want for it?
