Me too. Not counting the air compressor (which I still have) I guess I have somewhere around $800 or $1000 in the paint. I already had an old Binks gun that worked fine. Did mine in a 12X24 shed. Lots of dirt and some bugs in it but the urethane paint is great for sanding and buffing out defects. Lots of re-work too. Just be CAREFUL, its very toxic. Try for perfection but don't expect it.

Paint job is far from perfect but I get a lot of compliments on it. I know where the defects are but people don't notice them.

    couple of thoughts

Macco- if you're just going to keep the car for a few years ..ok. If not then I would not recommend it. The costs later to remove their mess and do it right will be very expensive. You simply cannot have excessive mils of finish of any kind on a car. Putting on more mils (coats) now will just increase the costs to do it right later.
A voc tech school would be a good alternative, but every one has more people with cars that need work, than skilled people to help do that work. Be prepared to spend several semesters practicing on others cars before yours will be "up" for restoration. I taught for several years at one, every student had a car that needed a ton of work, just not possible to do them all in a semester. Of course the practice will help you do a better job on yours.
Try a craigslist post for a bodyman/painter who is looking to do some side work. You can have one panal at a time done this way as cash flow will allow, with each one being put in primer. You can jump in and do some of thegrunt work and help , cutting costs a bit along the way.

I had no thought about craigslist for an off duty professional. Great idea.
