hey guys, just bought fresh built 302 for the mav. Bored .030 over, forged flat top pistons, mustang gt heads, edelbroc 1406 carb, bunch of chrome everywhere, ect... It had a pretty big drag racing intake on it that I want to change out for something more streetable b/c this is my daily driver and won't be pushing that high rpms too often. Would also like to go aluminum with this. Any preferences?
Air gap like stated above. Or just the regular RPM. I myself chose the Stealth From Weiand. It's rated from idle-6,800 you can't beat that power band for the street and it's the most affordable one too!
Thanks for the input guys! Looking up everything that's brought up! I have a stock 2 barrel intake as well... but that just seems wrong with such a nice new 4 barrel and all that chrome lol
RPM Air-Gap hands down...............We had one on our NMRA Pure Street 302, and it made great power as far as torque and mid-range is concerned, and as far as the top end, we made power up to 8200 RPM, before the power fell off. This was with a flat top piston, TW Heads, a .500 lift cam, and a Pro-Systems 650 Holley. The air gap also has the runners seperated form the valley portion the intake which helps with the heat transfer
looking at these raises the question of single or dual plane.. Which is better or does it depend on my carb?
Look at the RPM range the manifolds are meant to be run at. Dual plane is more of a street us intake. Single plane intakes require high rpms to make power.
in my opinion an eddy performer dual plane , and a 600 cfm eddy (they have a mild spread bore configuration.l) would be a good combo for torque, performance , and fuel economy for what you need. good luck.
walked up to my landlord's house a couple of hours ago to check but he wasn't home.. storing the engine in his garage until I have the conversion parts. Believe its an Edelbrock aluminum... Looks awesome lol I'll post the exact one with a link to a description as soon as I find out. I'll post a pictures thread when I get in there again too
