    Brake cleaner is awesome. Best multipurpose cleaner ever. But carb cleaner is even better for strippig paint, but then hit it with brake cleaner to clean off the residue. What paint did you use? I've had good luck with the 1500 degree paint from VHT.

    This is Rustoleum stuff. First time I've used it for anything. Supposed to be good for 2000 degrees. We shall see...

    Well good luck with it. I like the VHT stuff becuase they specialize in Automotive products. They have a high temp primer and then the paint fro when you start bare like you did. They also make a good caliper paint that has woked great for me.

    not really i did use a torch right aftert i sprayed them to help them dry faster lol cause im impatiant:biglaugh: and like fire:rofl:

    So I've set a goal - I've taken April 1 - 7 off, and I intend to drive this thing to work on the 8th.

    Are any of the bolts prone to backing out on these? Is it standard procedure to use Loctite or thread sealer on any particular fasteners?

    I know I'm throwing in a lot of elementary questions I should already know the answer to, but this is my first Ford engine build and I want to get it right...

    I don't use Loctite on anything. The only things I have had to re-torque are intake manifold bolts sometimes. and of course header bolts. As long as you torque everything to spec you should be good.

    X2 on the intake bolts.

    I haven't had to retorque my header bolts since I started using the 94 Lightning header gaskets.
