H and X pipes.....do i really need one

    OK...finally got a chance to read all the sites suggested above.

    1) I am NOT putting long chunk of extra pipe hanging out below my car, regardless of how much it cuts down on the resonance.

    2) the Graduate Dissertation link was probably the most informative of the links. It actually suggests that I go for a glasspack or Flowmaster Hushpower-type muffler, which isn't out of my range of choices at this point, if the H-pipe doesn't work.

    So I guess if i dont have H/X pipe my car wont run? You DONT need to run one if you dont want to. I already know how both work , dont need to read anything.

    Of note as well, I had a droaning issue with my EXP with a flowmaster and I put a 14" cherrybomb standard perforated glasspack in the center of the pipe before the muffler and it made a tremendous difference. Haven't done that to a V8 as of yet, but I would try it if the droan was an issue for me.
