I got a Free box of Dynamat from our body shop. When I ran out of that I went to Home Depot and bought their version of the peel and seal in the roofing section of the store. The stuff worked great and there is no smell. I found the listing for it on a Mustang web site and it seemed like every one on there was using it. I used a tennis ball to rub it down on the floor.
Here's a tip regarding that... If you're gonna lay that stuff all over our trunk, go ahead and put the carpet or vinyl or whatever you're going to use over it pretty soon. Otherwise it will look horrid after you've used it as your flooring for a year or two like I did. I've used it on several projects, works great!
LOL... good to know. I have a section of Extreme Dynamat that did the same thing. It's under the spare tho so I can't see it.
How would you prepare the metal before you put this on? Assuming I pull the carpet and the thing is just a little surface rust? Sand and prime and paint? Sand and por 15?
I just scraped the floor pan of anything loose. then scuff sanded and wiped it down with...wax and greese remover...
What about doors? Will and can you get it in the doors or will it conflict with things? And how much did you guys cover in the trunk? Down into the wells behind the wheels? ANd how easy is it to cut when working with it? Im getting ready to do this soon but will first seal the bottom and trunk with some 3M undercoating type stuff first.
I found the peel and seal at a roofing company in 3' wide rolls at a roofing company near my old house. I have only found the 6" stuff since then.
Thanks for the great info! I was thinking about painting on rhino liner, but this peel and seal sounds much better! (and cleaner)
