thats it?sounds like good stuff to me then did you check after that to see if it was still on really well?
When you get back if everything is in order i will be well on my way to lowes if i dont break down and just do it before
Frank, leave the Mav parked in the sun, with windows up, for 2-3 hours and then see if you smell roofing materials.
No disrespect guys, I realize this was not "laboratory level testing", but the guy did some pretty reasonable designs of experiment and documented it well. It certanly was not biased, I mean, the only way that you could get "certified" testing was through, perhaps, Consumer Reports or some such thing. I choose to not use asphalt; I don't mind spending a little bit more money that I don't have . I'd rather look at data like this and make an "informed decision" than base it purely on cost or manufacturer's claims. Chris
...and Frank, who has all the Maverick money is doing his own laboratory research and I don't mind using him as a guinea pig. After the next two weeks, when Frank puts over 3,000 miles on his Maverick, we'll get a very detailed report be it pro or con. Whodathunkit? Frank retires and becomes a research scientist.
thanks Terry,:Handshake the products i use are not..."laboratory level tested"... they are...Road tested... i read the whole thing...he said the same thing over and over, like if he made the writeup really, really, really etc. etc. etc. long...people would over look the part... "This is not laboratory level testing. I make no claims of precision at all. I also made no attempt to determine the relative effectiveness of the products when properly installed." mine was...properly installed...(Effie did it)... ......
Okay all this said. What then did you or how did you all seal the sound coming from the trunk area. That is to say the stuff doesn't stick to the factory insulation that is between the back of the back seat and the trunk area. Did you not cover that space or what? If you did, what did you do or use to make it work with the existing insulation barrier stuff that came stock?
I took the tar paper divider that my car have from the factory, traced it out, and cut a new one out of 1/4" plywood , and covered it with Dynaliner, the car I'm doing now, I'll build one outta sheet metal.
My latest creation will be fuel injected, and the battery will be in the trunk, and since I'm going to drive the hell outta this one, it's just another ounce of safety.
Is that to create a "firewall"? I only ask because I've been considering doing the same thing but the area on the sides between the quarter panel and the trunk hinges are very difficult to fabricate decent panels for out of metal, but I was going to attempt it for safety's sake. Of course there's the speaker and defogger holes to contend with too...:16suspect
For those hard to get pockets I am thinking about using the door and window instant foam. I filled my qtrs in the trunk with the regular instant foam and they got solid.
