    Working on shrinking the shock towers for the strut conversion, and ordered the coilovers.

    Been there! I used parts of a 89 F150 column to make mine a floor shift column. It wasn't that bad, much easier than a tilt!

    Last year I took apart my column to repaint, lube, etc. I couldn't see a purpose for the t-bolts. I put them back in but what is their function?

    The ear of the t-bolt fits into a slot in the tube and the t-bolt holds the steering flange to the tube.

    Hmmm, as I recall, that's not what the inside of my column looks like. In mine the t-bolts were each through a hole in a solid cast center piece. The heads were in slots on the rear of the cast piece and nuts were on the front of the same cast piece, they weren't engaging anything else. Mine was originally a 3-speed manual column and I gutted out the shifter tube and the linkage at the front, filled the hole in the collar.
