bumper tuck?

    i have a 73 comet GT. would it look fine to do a bumper tuck w/ this bumper and using a maverick hood and grill?

    Really depends if YOU like the look of it. Keep in mind....it will no longer look like a Comet GT. Heck....it won't even look like a Comet.

    Yes, but it's position is different. If you change the hood & grill, and tuck the bumper. your car will look like a Maverick, with Comet tailights...

    thats what im going for. i know its GT, and wouldve kept it GT, but the hood is smashed. so im gonna go for the maverick front end.

    as long as its a maverick bumeper and if its only the position that different, then thats fine. i just want to make sure they line up.

    thanks guys. now im searching for a t5 swap

    I like the look of a comet, so I would look into doing a small bumper comet swap... Just a thought.... Small bumper parts for the comet might be hard to find tho...

    thats like my bumper isnt it? how much did you cut off and did you trim off behind the flat plate?

    When I did mine, I removed the bumper assembly from the brackets at the flat plate and then the brackets from the frame. I then clamped the bracket in the vise and cut out 3 inches of the H beam support. I then realigned the two peices and welded them back together. I marked the valance before removing the bumper so I would know how much to trim off and left a 1/2 inch to extend under the back edge of the bumper after reinstalled. I also painted the valance while the bumper was off. I hope this helps in some way. You can see pictures of before and after in my images.

    73 front bumper

    yes i cut two and a half inches out of the cushion, it came out really good, i was pleased, and did not take much time at all.

    ok maybe that was the wrong word to use, sorry, (the bumper shock absorber), i cut it out and re-welded it, i hope that helps :)

    oh, okay. yeah, i was gonna cut off about 3" at the same area. i was trying to find a way to shove that area in more and bolt it, but all that rubber behind it seems too hard to remove.
