Just wondering what 302 build would take a stock to mild 4.6 stang I;m talking about the newer 300 crank hp stangs last year before the retro body.. afr 165 heads*stock 84 heads) what cam for flat tappet non roller 1.7 roller rockers?? 650cfm holly? (have 600 at the moment) have summit stage 2 d/p intake 3.40 gears(have 3.00 at the moment) 2600ish c4 stall converter should that do it should have aaround a 500 to 600lbs weight advantage on him
stock manifolds with 2in exhaust...as i was unclear about what i read on what headers would clear ccolumn shift with ps steering..
You cant have a true muscle car without a ratchet shifter Convert to floor, get hooker 6901's and the drop bracket for the PS. Manifolds are just going to hold you back in the performance department.
Well here's food for thought, my 77 Comet has a 3x2 carbed 331 with Canfield heads, Z303 cam, 1.7 rockers, 10.5 to 1 comp ratio, C-4 trans backed to a 3.50 geared 9" with tractionloc and it's quarter mile times are a tenth sec faster than my 06 Mustang GT doing the quarter with the A/C & the traction control working. The Comet's A/C ? 2 windows down The 06 was bone stock except for a K&N drop in filter element on it's factory tires. The GT clocked a 13.17 @ 104, the Comet's best was a 13.01 @ 107
yea i know lol like i said didnt do the hole hookers cause some people said it didnt work even with the drop bracket, and plan to get a b&m mega shifter :-D
Whether you beat the Mustang or not, you'll be glad you got the shifter and the headers. I'd put those higher on the list than the heads even, since the heads won't be able to do their job without good exhaust flow. I also don't think a 650 CFM carb is going to make enough difference to justify the purchase if you already have a 600. You won't flow enough to see the limit of either carb with stock manifolds anyway. Call the tech line of the cam company of your choice, or check out some simulation software such as CamQuest. Get a clear idea of what you're doing with the rest of the engine and driveline before you settle on a cam, also. You'll want as much information as possible to give the tech or the software. Also if you think you have your time frame and budget figured out, multiply that by at least 1.5...
yeah..but what year ..some olds years only had 225 to 265? newest have 300 I'm thinking a 268 cam mentioned from other thread and 3.50 gear/9inch coan 11in 2800 stall with trans-go shift kit partial manual/auto version
so which 6901 should i get? http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=hooker%206901&dds=1 and can you find the correct ps drop bracket? on summit? this one? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-10961HKR/
Those are all the same headers, they just have different coatings. They also have some cheap $166 black ones: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-6901HKR/ These ones also come with a $20 gift certificate And yes that is the bracket.
yea i know that, i'm sure one has to be better in operation life.. i'd imagine the stainless steel version will still outlast the other steel headers with the various ceramic type coatings.. and good deal on the plain ol black ones...and always get some vht type paint at pepboys for another coat or two..
There's nothing wrong with it. Both were run in full street trim on pump gas. You're confusing numbers due to other factors such as gearing and tires. Both cars are capable of better times with better tires and deeper gearing. What I posted are honest numbers, not someone's inflated idea of what they want the numbers to be.
