I have looked at almost every place i can think of online that sells body panels, can't find any that will fit a '72 comet... I put up a pic, as ya can tell this is going to be a long project, but when isn't it? :p I don't really want to search every junkyard in a 3 state radius to try to find panels, so if ya know any links to places that have them, please let me know!:Welcome:

No one sells new doors, or fenders, unless you buy NOS, which are few and far between these days.
Post in the wanted section, and you'll find some good used parts.

You'll need to find some used parts. Where are you located? That might determine who you can buy from since you would have to pay for shipping. Good luck.:)

Central Iowa. The one salvage yard i frequent often doesn't have much as far as Comet's/Mavericks are concerned unfortunately. As far as i know, they only have 2, and one was a fire wreck, body is torched. Most of the other places have gotten rid of their older stock already, almost impossible to find parts around here for my '84 mustang, most of the foxes have been crushed:coco:

Post here in the parts wanted section and there should be some people relatively close to you. :)

Not to be rude....but it might be easier to find another car. If you have to replace EVERY panel on the car...that might be the way to go. Just another option.

Only thing it needs is that right side in the pic, 40 years of Iowa winters got to it pretty bad. everything else is fine. Shock towers, engine bay, trunk, and floor pans are fine. :respect:

If you want to drive to Indiana...I would have a door and a fender. Email me directly (see below) if I can help.

You would need one of these to get new Maverick Sheet Metal ...

.....and, I agree with my original assessment. I would look for another car to fix up.

I guess you did specify "in that pic", as you are correct in saying Only thing it needs is that right side in the pic.

Uh.....Looks to me that the driver's side needs work as well

O.K.....a little more clairity. I now read in you signature: *hoping to soon get* '72 Comet. So you must be looking at the car as well.

I actually ended up getting this Comet either the day of or day after this thread was started. I suppose when the guy said he had a few other people interested he wasn't lying lol

I haven't seen the car yet personally but as long as the frame is good I am probably going to use it as a Project for college classes this fall.

If frame is rotted I will just part it and get my money back then scrap the car.

I wiki'd the production stats for 72 and it said there were a bit over 53k of these 2 doors made. 88% automatic and 12% manual. The math puts this at one of approx 6400 3 spds from the factory. Just needs some TLC lol

I would say from the pictures I have seen...I would count on the frame being rusted. :(
