What about the rest of the spoiler? Side caps and such, maybe with some bondo it would work.

Looks like the crap some of these kids are bolting on the back of honda's and nissans ....

 

Cmon guys, your not looking at the whole picture, there is more to the spoiler than what the pic shows, on each side there should be a peice that goes forward quite aways, makes the whole spoiler look kinda like a nike swoosh or a porshe 911 spoiler from the side. Use a little imagination (ok, alot).

 

Well, guys, I am planning on installing a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 rear spoiler. That is, if it fits. I have to measure and see.

Thanks for the picture. I plan to install the spoilers within a week. My Merc1 buddy and I plan to do the installation. Is there anyone who could offer any suggestions? Have any of you all ever done this before? I am wondering if I should use U-bolts or sheet metal screws to attach the front spoiler. The rear spoiler should be a snap. I am EXCITED!

The Mach 1 spoiler does fit great and mine was easy to install.
I had this on my 76 Mav (long since gone) and the best I remember, I installed it like this.
1- I set the spoiler on the car and marked the front and back of the 2 posts.
2- I then used the spacer pads that came with mine to mark my holes and drilled them out.
3-The holes lined up into the spaces in the trunk lid so the bolts were fairly easy to get to.Bolted it on.
4- Installed 2 lifts to the trunklid to help hold it open because that spoiler was pretty heavy and would not stay open by itself!

Here's some pics of my dad's old '71 Comet GT when he had the Mach 1 style rear spoiler on it back in the late 80's. I used to really like it, but now I think I would go with the Grabber style rear spoiler. Comet GT's never came with the Grabber rear spoiler, by the way.

 

Better watch it, someone may b!tc# at you for saying something like that. Of course, you're not me, so they probably won't.

 

Why would someone gripe?
I can fix that I suppose...
