I am in the process of swapping a '70 front bumper, valence, and filler panel onto my '73 and I am ready to notch the fenders for the filler panel. The problem is I can't find the dimensions for the cut. I have tried searching but I can't seem to find anything. I know the basic shape and everything, but if someone knew the exact measurements I need to cut to that would be great. Thanks
Fender notch?? Whats that? (On a serious note i'm looking for a picture that i saved years ago on how to do the notch) Here's the template pic for drilling the frame holes.
I only needed to drill the front hole for the bumper brackets on my '74. The rear hole was dead on the money.
i cut on the inside line then split the corner and folded the top up and the side back. this gave a stock look... on this fender there is a stamped imprint of the same thing on the inside.
Thanks guys, but no one has the actual dimensions? I may just have to go to the junkyard and measure the one they got there
If you notch the filler panel, doesn't it rub against the fender and scratch the paint? That's how the previous owner did on my '73 when he pulled the bumper in closer
It hasn't on mine, been five years now. I was gonna put a rubber strip on it for protection. But I totally forgot about it, till now. Thanks for reminding me.
I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have the actual dimensions for cutting a fender notch? I don't have access to a 70-72 car to make a template. Thanks
It's more knowing where to fold the metal than where to cut. You want the fold the shaded area and cut out the painted area. See http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/maverick_38.html
