After a year of no racing (new 347, spun a bearing, crank was done, got new crank, machining, cracked a main while checking tolerances, bought a Dart block, more machining, assembled it under the watchful eye of Pro Stock staff), I'm finally racing again. The car ran so good. I got a best 11.577 for the night on an 11.60 dial in but it was good for the win since the other guy broke out by more. I dialed in at 11.57 for the next race but the other guy was behind quite a bit so i let off which is a good thing. I went through the trap at 101mph with an 11.66. The 1000' number shows i would have broke out again by almost a tenth. Won the final when the other guy fell asleep at the tree.
just curious...what is all done to your 347? heads cam intake manifold and such? and how much power did it make?
Couldn't afford the dyno this time. In this part of the world, by the time you're done dyno sessions, you're shelling out about $1,000. The last cam was a flat tappet and we got just over 440 hp. This is a solid roller with a little more lift (.612/.621 i believe). I can get you the cam # if you want. I have an Edelbrock Air Gap intake. Compression is 10.5. The heads are aluminum 58ccc Canfields (because they came with the original engine i bought). The flow numbers are similar to AFR 185 at mid to higher rpms, but i wouldn't buy them again due to the raised ports and a nightmare fitting the driver's side headers and too tight under the car. I'm actually running 1-1/2" headers while i wait for my 1-5/8 headers to get modified and i certainly can't afford custom headers right now. Can't wait to see what happens when the engine can breathe better at the higher rpms. Fear not! She has an 8 point roll cage. The first run was a wicked eye-opener because my fastest on my 306 was 12.54
yeah there's a few things holding you back...lol i was wondering why it seemed a little on the slow side...it should pick up a bit with a larger primary and it would probably run a whole lot better with an open plenum manifold...victor jr. or sr. or even a parker funnel like i am using...ive got a little 302 we are throwing into my car for the summer street drags and we have an estimated et of around 11.70 or so on the motor and 10.60s or so on the bottle.
yeah, those little headers block almost 20% of the exhaust port but i'm very happy with these numbers for now. I have to be because custom headers will set me back about $1200.
yep thats about average...and i need to have 2 sets made...ouch that hurts my pocket...lol congrats anyhow...i cant wait to get mine to the track or on the streets either one...
