I'm in the process of potentially working a deal on getting Maverick headers made with 1 7/8" primaries. Would anyone else be interested in these?
What are the Doug Thorley ones? (I've never really payed attention) Or are these long tube? Forget it, I looked it up, they are 1 5/8.
Correct. Not sure on price. I'm just trying to gauge interest right now. They could be had in SS or Coated.
You'd really have to pinch the tubes to make room for the bolts unless you're gonna include some type of adaptor plate.
There is no way any 347 needs a 1 7/8" primary tube. Yu will not get the Hp you need using pipes that big.
Our 310" NMRA Pure Street engine was limited to 1 3/4" headers per the rules, and with larger headers, it picked up on the dyno. This was a flat top piston deal with Twisted Wedge heads, .500 lift cam, stock lifters, and a unported Edelbrock Air Gap intake with a Pro Systems 650 Holley. Now throw 37 more cubes at it with a ported Vic Jr, or Super Vic Jr intake and more cam, those larger headers will make a difference.
This is a good point...Crites 1.75 headers fits both 302s and 351s..... I think they were actually made for 302s but they got lucky in fitting 351s as well. If they are made to fit a 351 I think they would sell very well
IMO, for the money, go with the hooker 6208's or the crites......very little mods necessary to get them to fit. The only other viable option in my book is cu$tom headers.
....also, i've got 2" to 2 1/8" stepped on my car and can build a set for anyone if you're willing to bring your car to me or any other header builder for that matter. The turn is so tight coming out of the head to clear the shock tower, you really need to do a strut conversion or MII conversion to take full advantage of a good set of headers.
