If anyone is interested, when I had my headers modified by SPD in Rancho Cordova, CA they made jigs for the headers at my request.
Of course if you have a 351 with cut towers they will fit, but if the towers haven't been cut they will not. SPD will make them in steel, SS, (301 or 321) and they fit with not problems.
As for being cheap, well..................with custom headers there is no such thing. I have seen Chris at SPD make a set of SS headers for a Boss 429 Mustang and they took almost a week to put together............with shop overhead of $70/hr the labor adds up fast and the SS has almost hit an all time high. The headers I had modified were built by Bill Dawson in the L.A. area some 12 years ago, and with the exception of replacing the bolt on merge connectors..................the rust is minimal.
These are 1-7/8 stepped headers and although I have a set of Twisted Wedge-R heads it does take me about an hour or so to change the plugs which is a pain in the rear. Maybe someday I will go with a Mustang III type suspension..............but for now I will have to suffer...............still this is not as bad as my 08 Dodge Ram with Hemi..............which takes almost 6 hours to change 16 plugs!!!

    IMHO

How can you say that without knowing the specs of my motor? It will make a difference. Trust me. Let me guess....BOSS 302 intake ports are too big too right? Just kidding man. :biglaugh:

When your 347 makes between 535 and 550 hp NA and close to 750+ on the bottle, every little bit of exhaust cfm is needed. Im not expecting a stock 302 to run very well with that size primary but more cubes equals more air movement. plus compression etc all comes into affect. :)

This winter i'm building a set of fender-well exit headers out of 20 gauge 321-stainless. I hate to get rid of the custom set that I already built but I need to remove the tranny without taking the headers off. This will help at big races if I have a transmission failure and need to swap between rounds.
