mines pretty clean i suppose. no battery up front, starter solenoid moved behind shock tower, converted to one wire alternator and got rid of external voltage regulator, converted to GM HEI distributor and got rid of external coil, ditched the overfill and washer fluid boxes and went with the aluminum cans you see up front. moved the main wiring harness under the fender on drivers side - never liked how it just laid over the shock tower.

reformed the brakelines to clean it up, went serpentine belt setup and removed all A/C and power steering stuff. its about as clean as you can get i suppose. outside of a Mustang II setup with smooth fenders.

Photos: sorry i dont have any photos of the finished project ill have to snap some soon. heres some showing some changes along the way but not all, one you can see me starting to move the wiring harness, and the last photo - well, it doesnt get much cleaner than that haha

when someone mentioned a "clean" engine bay, first thing i think of is attention to detail rather than stripping everything out for a bare look (although there is nothing wrong with that if ur going for that look)....first ones to come to mind would be Craig Selvey's, Dan Hines', and Dave Boyer's

I'm going for the bare look wires in inter fender everything behind shock towers and I found these neat tubes from a Lincoln lsc they run from the water pump to the back of the block where the heater core is it runs down between the valve cover and the intake manifold so the only thing you see is the engine also battery in the trunk I am adding a radiator overflow tank and a pcv oil collector.

The valve on heater hose is to shut off coolant flow in AC mode. Not using AC get rid of it. Just another spot to leak. Its ugly too.

okay, cool. im tearing all that stuff up. you should have seen the engine bay a couple days ago. it was the nastiest thing. kinda discouraging actually. i need to soak this in degreaser and tow it to a car wash and blast the **** out of it.

anything i should do when i get it all cleaned up? do i really have to sand down the paint for color to stick or could i use some type of primer before i paint it?

You'll have to sand for paint to stick.

Get some RED scotch brite and a can of comet cleaner (the powder) clean, degrease, and scuff all at the same time. before paint still make sure you use wax and grease remover and wipe it all down again.

If you don't scuff the paint somehow, what you do paint will end up blowing off, maybe not right away, but it will
