    Kind of like those who have planned to build the turbocharged Maverick/comets. Have seen lots of people want to do it, however only a few have succeeded. Good to see you on here again...even if it's only a single post(y)

    I'm pretty sure we all know that running electronic devices at a higher than designed voltage shortens the life of the device. I'm also pretty sure that anyone who drag races pushes all the components of their car to their limits at times. It's part of racing. If you want to be the fastest it costs money. We're talking about a sport where some people rebuild their motors every couple races because they're pushing limits.

    Just in case this hasn't occurred to some people, you can get starters built to handle both 12v and 16v systems. They also sell 16v alternators if you care to run one. http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/xs_volt_for_racing.html
    There are also companies that make three-post batteries with ground, 12v, and 16v posts. Or you can buy a 16v to 12v step-down box for 12v accessories.

    You didn't answer my question. I have at least admitted when I made my mistakes - that makes me human.
    I try not to tear down others on the board because their experience is different - I just voice my EXPERIENCE.
    So yours is different? That's ok.

    Then, by all means, just admit you have ZERO experience with racing 16V systems and you don't have a clue how to set one up.

    I don't have any experience drag racing with 16 volt systems - I do have experience with electrical and electronics and running over-voltage and voltage regulators.
    You don't have to be a transmission expert to know that no oil in the gearbox will ruin your transmission in short order.

    Interesting thread. SInce we are talking about a race set up I say you kind of have to listen to the guys that are actually running it at the track. Thats a no brainer. If it works, it works. Good for you guys. sounds like a big improvement for getting those engines cranking over.
    I wouldnt want to run my modern every day vehicle at that voltage cause yes it will do damge. Thats a no brainer also. The thread is about a race application though on an old car with minimal need for every day conveniences. LOL.
    Great info on the 16volt system. Learn something new every day.:thumbs2:
