I am so freakin jealous..lol this is just the most amazing rebuild ! I wish I could get my grabber into shape as you have done to this one!
ok i wanted to ask but was feeling stupid... your collectors...do they seal like a funnel or are you welding them up?
Thank you..... Costco's finest, there very comfortable and for $15 a pair they can't be beat..... They are slip fit, they have retaining tabs you can see on the collectors(I still have to add the tabs on the tubes themselves..... The primary tubes slip in almost 2" deep and are a pretty snug fit, what happens is the primary tube swells slightly when they heat up creating a tight seal..... Well, I quess it's about time to get to the shop and try to get something done.....
Got the 2nd and 3rd tubes on the pass tacke together this morning..... Only one more tube to make..... Here's the 2nd and 3rd tubes on the bench..... and here they are in the car.....
Yes it is, but to get the length and avoid the starter it was necessary..... At least it has a nice 10" straight section before entering the collector so there should be no turbulance issues.....
Finished welding the tubes already fitted this morning, then went to my shop and fabbed up the last header tube and cut down the collectors..... Then went back to work to weld the last tube and the v-bands to the collectors..... Just need to get the collector retaining tabs on the header tubes and fab the retaing tab for the engine oil dip stick..... Here's the last tube after welding and clean up..... and here are the collectors with v-band flange welded on..... Tomorrow I will get some pic's with all the tubes in place.....
Got the tubes cleaned up this morning and the collector retaining tabs welded on the primary tubes..... Also added a retaining tab for the oil dipstick..... Here's the 4th tube on the pass side in place and how everthing look with the v-banded collectors in place.....
U the man Hey Frank .... I just got to say it "U THE MAN". U turn out some awesome work and take some hell-of-pictures to go along with it... Nothin else to be said - as far as Im concerened...
