That foil stuff is cheap, light, and works pretty good. You need to take it easy on it before you mount carpet. your knees can make it pop, or if you step on it hard with a shoe or heel. But once you put the carpet/jute on top, it spreads out the pressure so the bubbles don't pop. Still a little springy, and feels like a thick carpet padding. But a bit quieter and MUCH cooler. Which is important down here in Texas durng the hot summers.
Not my cat(s). Stole that from the net. This is my cat with my recently departed dog... The dog understood why she was in there. The cat, apparently, was clueless. For about 10 more seconds....
So that's why mine is bunched up, but more on the drivers side than the passengers side. I ordered for a 74, which mine is , also. Makes it hard to right foot brake, you foot goes into a cubbyhole for the gas pedal, and it's hard to pick it up quick. I just got used to left foot braking it all the time, also because it sometimes refuses to idle, but that's another story....
Mine is tight on the driver side, and no issues with pedals. It is floppy on center hump and on passenger side of hump toward floor. Maybe I just pulled it tight in the right direction to keep me from having pedal issues.
You're right reverse of mine. I started fastening stuff on the drivers if I remember right, and then couldn't get the hump out. No big deal now that I'm used to it, but if I ever change it again, I'll get carpet for a 72 or 73....
Looks like the same stuff I got. It took 2 rolls with some left over. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SFT-INSUL1/
How does this material from Summit apply? Do you need to use a roller like some deadner or it is just simply peal and stick?
I'm hoping that someone finally found a carpet that was at least a decent fit in a 1970 and we can see some reality photos of the install. All I ever get is the carpet maker's claims that "yes we make one for the small tunnel 70" just you find out that they'll say anything to make a sale.
