I found out that I need to slide my trunk lid sideways a little, any idea on how to do that? the four bolds I found would only allow for in/out and rotation but I couldn't see anything that deals with lateral shifts. The bottom edge of the trunk makes contact with the fender extension, but the line/gap that the top of the lid is perfectly parallel with the body and rear window trim. any ideas? thanks

I was thinking of just grinding down that corner of the trunk lid but I would prefer not to do that.

How are your gaps along the side of the trunk to the quarter panels? If those gaps are even then youd be better off just taking the edge off the corner that is hitting. My trunk rubbed one corner on the extention piece also. but my gaps were good on the trunk. I just left it alone but it has scratched the paint off a little where it touches, I should have clearanced it a little.

Took some time with my body man to get my lid to fit ok. The quarter extension does adjust a bit also. It may be all you need to clear it. Dont try to move it though if someone painted the car with them in place. We had a heck of a time moving my lid over to fit right. Took 2 bodymen and me leaving the room. Between that and playing with the extensions its fits about as good as these cars will.

I guess either leaving it as is or grinding is my only options. the lines are parallel on the sides just one side has a little more room than the other.

DO NOT GRIND!! If you raise the trunk lid up....then push on the side where it was too close and push it over to the other side. This will persuade the trunk lid over some.

Also...you can adjust the latch so when it closes....it will pull the trunk lid over.

He beat me to it. You can cheat it a little bit by adjusting the latch.

Ditto what Craig said...Your going to have to persuade the hinges to bend a little to get the clearance you need. The skin is very thin and you really dont want to grind it on the edge...You may end up seperating the skin from the inner at the edge if you do. Good luck!!!

    Thats what I was thinking.

I will probably do what Craig said with the persuation and move the latch over a little.

    thanks for all the info.

I would think that the lid should be able to shift at the bolts.. clearance the holes if necessary in the right direction.

When you loosen the four bolts you can hold pressure on the lid pushing it sideways. When you tighten the lid back down it will stay more than you realize. Adjusting the striker is also necessary to make it close in the right position. There is a LOT of adjustment in a trunkid for these cars. Just takes some time and patience to get it right.

Yep PERSUADE is a good word for it Pete. I had to leave when they were doing mine. It was still in primer but those big bars gave me the willies. Took a lot of force to move it over and stay maybe an 1/8" if that. We tried just pushing it over but it didnt work. Had to get the bars in the hinge area and, well thats when i left.
