modifying 73 front bumper

    has anyone done anything with them? my front small bumper is tweaked and i had a couple 73 bumpers laying around, i took one apart and started cleaning it up, and im thinking of filling the holes from the rubber and painting it and seeing what it looks like, im starting to like painted bumpers more and more and im thinking this might not look too bad

    I personally like the 73, almost as much as a small bumper. If you want to do something a little different, cut the brackets and set it back to where the small bumper would mount...

    Joe Dirt did a great job cutting and refitting his 73 bumper. ck out his pics

    The brackets on the 73 are solid so there is plenty of opportunity for modification tho...

    thats a great idea, i have 2 and one has immaculate chrome and very good rubber trim, i think im going to end up filling the holes on one and painting it and cleaning up the chrome one and seeing which one looks better, then i will play with the brackets :thumbs2:

    I agree about tucking the front bumper. I id the bumper tuck on my 73 bumper. I like it....

    The 73 front mounts have rubber in them, so with a press you could compress them.

    i thought about this, to see if it would work. i wasnt sure it it was welded inside of the rubber.

    I also thought about doing it that way but didn't want to weakin that part of the mount so I sectioned the suports 3". :drive:
