I'm sure I or someone has asked this on here before. I know for the plastic interior pieces/panels VHT brand paint is recommended.

    but...

Can I use any run of the mill paint for my dashboard and doors? Which are metal. Not sure If I need something that can take some sun/heat though.

SEM makes the best paint for plastic pieces and anything else, stay away from Krlyon Fusion, that's for lawn furniture.

    what he said...

SEM also markets an adhesion promoter that works very well for the plastic. Wash them first for best results.:thumbs2:

I think his original question was what to use on the metal. I too wonder that, as I will need to paint my column and probably metal dash front.

Thanks guys, I found a good tan color from SEM for the plastics that should match headliner and vinyl floor good.

Yes I was wondering metal as well, should I go with SEM brand paint for that too?
What grit sandpaper will scratch the door/dash surfaces enough to promote the new paint to stick?

I have 80-100-400-800-1000 grit, which would work best?

For the metal interior in black - I have used the SEM Hot Rod Black that gives a really nice factory semi-gloss look. It is a catalized paint that comes in quarts for about $70. Also, the Eastwood spray cans of underhood black are very close to the factory look. They cost about $12.

Do not try and use the SEM vinyl sprays on metal. It will not work.

I just used Rustoleum satin black on the doors and dash. Has held up great for a lot of years.

Ditto. Most Ford "black" interiors are actually charcoal metallic. Mustangs Unlimited and NPD carry a perfect match. I used it on my dash to spot in a section that had a small scratch and it blended perfectly. If you have a color also used on a Mustang, they can fix you up.

Where can I get a color chart for Mustangs Unlimited selection. I've typed in the colors but have gotten varying pictures of the color.

I'm mainly just choosing a light tan color, as my interior is now 2 toned and I want the doors and dash just tan.
