During the week, I removed the bearings & retainers plus those heavy cast Versailles disc brake axle retainers from my axles.

Today I cleaned up the 9 inch axles so I can press on the new bearings.

Drpped off the trans, driveshaft, 5 lug spindles and rear end from the donor car at the sellers dads house this morning. You shoulda seen the look on his face, he was stunned. Bros I swear he thought he would never see me again yesterday when I picked up the car. Today I gutted the interior, scraped Monkey poop ,cut sheet metal, removed the master cylinder and all brake lines (front and rear) and removed the windshield from the donor car to get at the dash screws. It took me 3 showers and 7 beers.:pub::pub::pub::pub::pub::pub::pub:now im gonna relax.:Woot:

I replaced the U joints and upper, driver's side ball joint. I was pretty happy with the jobs, as they were the first major work I'd ever done, but after reading Resto's post I feel like the weekend was wasted! ;-)

Started new project for the 69.5 - replacing the small transmission tunnel with a larger one out of a 72.

My Hurst V-Gate shifter actually stuck out of the side of the stock small 69.5 tunnel. Then the Cleveland/top loader had to be mounted an inch or so further forward once the MII cradle went in and the hole got even bigger.

I figure I can also buy a carpet for a 72 that will fit :thumbs2:

Thanks to Rick Brooks for the transmission tunnel successfully shipped from Texas to Pennsylvania

writhed in agony as i saw fuel pour out of my throttle body after it died at a stopsign... Spent 8 hours taking the upper intake and fuel rail off. cleaning everything. Screwing around and putting new o-rings on. New Fuel Pressure regulator. And now it runs good again. :) Hope My injectors aren't screwed up.... Time for x pipe and 3.5" exhausts with nothin but cherrys to hold it back... actually time for bed. do that tomorrow...

will be dropping rear end and cleaning fender wells and undercarriage in the coming days.

    ---quick question
I was wanting to put 'fresh' fluid in the rear end but places like autozone list the gasket as a ford 9 in. how can i seal back up the rear end or find a gasket?

Just order a gasket somewhere on-line for an 8 inch rear regardless of what Auto Zone says - most guys at Auto Zone never saw a Maverick let alone an 8 or 9 inch rear :thumbs2:

I wanted to buy axle bearings for a 9 inch rear sitting in one of my stock cars. I told them it was for a 1977 small bearing 9 inch from a LTD II so that should have been it right? WRONG - he insisted that he could not get a part number unless I told him what the rear was in. I told him, if it helped him any, the rear was in a 1980 Monte Carlo stock car. After 20 minutes of searching, he comes back and tells me "a 9 inch Ford rear was never stock in a 1980 Monte Carlo" DUH!!!!
