I tried to find a prior discussion on this. I know I have seen one, but I just can find it today.

The back tail light panel - when painted black. What color - Flat Black or Satin Black or something else? Matt wants to go with a Grabber color style. Also I think a black back panel will make the tail lights stand out more.

Search out (both here and on the web)

    SEM Hot Rod Black

The stuff is amazing to work with and easy to care for. It is as close to a 100% match of the factory semi-gloss black that you can find.

I would say it's a matter of personal choice......I did mine in gloss black. It's easier to care for than the satin or flat look, just wax it like the rest of the car.....

During repaint my 70 was done with PPG satin black which would have been correct for later years. The original black on my hood and tail panel was a rough finish called ultra-flat.

I recently asked the same question with my Comet.. I decided on a Satin black but when it came down to it I went with a gloss black because of the fact it's easier to care for and shines great just like the rest of the car. Looks great but it's all personal choice on what you prefer. If you choose satin use the SEM hot rod
