I haven't cruised past 85 but have been up to 107 I think on the 1/4mi.

I do have 3 bulk heads so I will have enough for the cabin and 2 for the engine bay. I'll finish running the lines for those today.

    lot's going on . . .
drove the car home after putting in the 1" lowering blocks and I was having clearance issues on both shocks.

I spaced the driver's side rear shock further out which meant I had to relocate the Holley Black Fuel pump.

On the driver's side the shock was hitting the sway bar so we actually made spacers to install under the brackets for the rear sway bar. Actually worked really well.

due to metal pieces I found in the oil pan while changing the oil I had to go through the engine.

    market the distributor
    [IMG]

realized my connections to my distributor were shorting out against the block

I have to be in nevada by Thursday morning at 6am. I really wanted to get there ahead of time and do a run through, make sure the car is ok but I won't have time for any of that.

I dropped the belly bar and the front sway bar and even tried lifting up the engine but still couldn't get the oil pan out.

changed the gears from 4.10 to 3.0. Bryant did them, it was pretty quick and there is no leaks thank God.

I then started on the front wheel bearings. There was a good amount of slop in the wheel so they needed to be changed.

    took off the brakes
    [IMG]

old bearings and seal came out pretty easy, there is a trick. you put the spindle nut back on after removing the smaller outer bearing, then pull down and outwards and the seal and bearing come out in one piece.

if you look carefully you can see that the bearing retainer had spun on the spindle some.

I put the rotor on a stand and used a chisel to hammer out the races from opposite sides, worked like a charm

Found out about the metal pieces in the tank at 430p on Tue and worked until 930p that night. Came back the next day at 7 and worked straight until midnight, drove the car home from the shop and it was smoking really bad. Mostly the drivers side. I was losing oil from somewhere. Tightened the valve covers multiple times and I thought the smoking went away. Showered, packed, mapped the drive on GPS which would be about 4 hrs. I go to take off at 1a and no smoking.....until I got on the freeway, 35 miles later someone high beams me I'm sure because of my smoking. So I pull off the road and try to really look and see what is doing all that smoking. Still thinking valve covers so I tighten some more, at this point I'm feeling like the bolts are gonna snap and its almost 2am. I guess I was parked on private property because the security asked me to leave. So I start the car and wait for the old oil to burn off...nope! Still smoked. And now I was losing oil. That's it, I headed home. 15 miles into the drive back I changed my mind and said I'd give it another shot. Tightened the valve cover bolts again and it was improving but still smoking. I get on the freeway again heading to Nevada and steering felt weird. I pull of and some lug nuts were loose, not super loose but noticeable. Tightened them and back on the road. Now smoking gets intense again, 90 miles out already....smoke again. I got out and tightnened the bageezes out of the bolts and it worked. Had to fill gas 3 times and the last one just barely made it, had to go 60mph instead of 80.

    Arrived at 715am :)

Mo, I hope there is a happy ending to your problems. Those fabricated sheet metal valve covers can be a real bear to keep from leaking, I had tried several different types of gaskets before I found a set that stopped them from leaking.

Good to find loose lugnuts before race.

    Wishing you good luck
