Is it ok to run my stock sway bar till i can get a bigger one?(I did a V8 swap), has anyone kept their stock sway bar after a V8 swap? i was thinking i can run urethane bushings till i get that addco 7/8's sway bar. also would swaping on bigger wheels(17x9) affect a stock sway bars ability to do its job?
Quite a few of the V8 cars came with the smaller bar from the factory, it was an option to get the bigger one. It will be fine.
Still have the little one on my car. Looks about as big as a pencil when your used to looking at the new cars all day.
Still running the stock 6 cyl bar in my sprint W/a 351 and its feels fine, behaves well. So, yeah you should be fine till your ready to upgrade it.
That's a trick question. Like DDB said...they came with differen sizes. From the Master Parts Catalog: '70 6 cyl Standard = 11/16" '70 6 cyl Heavy Duty = 7/8" '71 6 cyl Standard = 11/16" '71 6 cyl Heavy Duty = 7/8" '71 8 cyl Standard = 5/8" '71 8 cyl Heavy Duty = 7/8" I don't see sway bars listed for 72 Maverick. All '73-'76 Heavy Duty = 7/8" All '76-'77 Standard = 11/16" All '76-'77 Heavy Duty = 7/8"
thanks for posting that, according to the list my '74 mav should already have a 7/8 bar on it. whats a good way to measure it to be sure?
My '74 has a 11/16" bar. IF you can still see the paint codes the standard bar will have 2 pink and 2 orange marks...Heavy duty will have 2 green and 2 orange markings. Here's a Mustang bar.
