Letting cars sit is a bad thing. I was cleaning up the garage and moving vehicles yesterday. My truck hasnt been drivin in almost a year I think. I didnt even realize that until I thought back to the last time I used it. Well I went to push it out of the garage and it has no brakes. Dont see any evidence of a leak but has no pedal pressure. So that kind of sucked. It was sitting in the driveway all night and that makes me nervous.

So I move on to the Maverick. I had the battery charging while I cleaned up and put the trucks carb back togethor. I get to the point im ready to start the Maverick and move it over. turn the key on and I hear the fuel pump run a little dry at first and then it gets pressure. then somthing lets loose and fuel is spraying under my car. that pump sure puts out alot of fuel, lol. I grabbed some vise grips to pinch of the rubber hose at the tank to stop the fuel that kept siphoning out. Look under the car and cant tell where it all came from. Think maybe the steel braided hose went bad coming out of the pump. the pump and fittings looked alot more dry than the hose a little forward of that.

So after I get the parts removed to ge tready for the 5 speed swap I need to finish the Mustang project. then fix the trucks brakes. then get the 5 speed conversion done. So much to do and so little time.

Agreed...alot of crap can go bad when a car just sits. At least you had all that fuel to clean up that oil slick under the Mav...:rofl2:

Howd you know? I was hoping to move the car out of the way to get to the mess but reaching under and spreading the fuel around with towels worked well. Hope you lik ethe smell of gas because it still smelled pretty good this morning.

I've had that happen with braided line before. I won't use it anymore because of that. It may be an Arizona thing, because guys in Minnesota thought I was nuts when I told them the problems I had with braided line. It seems to rot from the inside out, so there are no obvious signs of degradation. I use push lock hose now. I'm betting that it will still go bad, but it should be more obvious.

Must be the new rubber. Because Ive had many things with old original hard rubber hose on them that still worked. I think I'll be running steel line from the pump to regulator. Now Im worried about all the braided in the engine compartment.

Tony and Gene are awesome. We had that transmission out in no time it seemed. Didnt even make a mess, it was the cleanest trans removal ever.

Resto its all out and ready. I got the rear panels out and ready to. I could have the nitrous kit out in 30 minutes or so since its already in the air. I'll be taking it out anyways for later.

That may have been the first time ever I did not bleed after working on a car for more than 30 minutes.

Ya you lucked out. This thing is sitting on the ground just ready to drop back into place. Its going ot be a piece of cake for you. Youll just need to bend your floor shifter rod a little to get it to match up to the selector shaft, and buy a starter for a fox body Mustang and your are DONE.

Im sure Resto Will find the hard way to put this trans in. He seems to be the guy that dosnt leave good enough alone. this thing will probably have a trans brake and air shifted when hes done with it.

I was thinking of that, but then I thought, Ryans probably already done it. Ill come up with something you havent done someday.

Look whose talkin, C4 to AOD to 5 speed, Nitrous, strokers, 9", then back to 302 straight motor? You must be bored.
