Well atleast im leaving the aluminum heads and 9" in the car. Ive built it all kinds of ways, now I just want to drive it. Going back to basics I guess. Taking out the power seats and going back to old school Highbacks. Still leaving the power windows and stereo in it for now.
I just read this on the Speedworld Facebook page... Due to Mother Nature extended "summer" temperatures, Speedworld Dragstrip is postponing opening up for Sunday Drags for a few more weeks. Ryan, do you know anything about this???
Step one of T5 swap complete. I have the transmission in hand now. Its a freshly rebuilt unit and has the 068 gear cluster which is good to 350hp/tq. I guess there are a few different gear sets in them and some are only good to 275hp/tq. My tranny guy went through it and is good as new he says. Tomorrow Ill pick up my bell housing, block plate, clutch fork and shifter. And I'll be ordering my flywheel and clutch set from work in a day or so. When I have time I need to call CNC and order up the hydraulics.
Well Resto, looks like I am coming to your neck of the woods possibly in couple weeks. Our job is finished up here so looks like next site is in Yuma
Time is something I have very little of so I try not to waste it. I spent 10 hours yesterday in the heat working on my 93 Mustang. I think im to the point that I can stop with the long days on it and its ready for the road. Now to ge the truck and Maverick back on the road too.
This manual trans swap is really adding up. Im saving a little with the parts I can get with my emplyee discount but theres not much I can get from Oreillys. But having some Mustang buddys hook me up on some stuff is saving the day. Fresh WC T5 trans .......................................$320 club friend Clutch set..................................................... $152 emplyee price flywheel........................................................$42 emplyee price Bell, clutch fork, block plate, Pro 5.0 shifter...$100 club friend slave cyl., bracket, rod kit.............................$166 Rosehill Pedal and master cyl....................................$140 Im guessing on this, havent confirmed price yet new trans mount..........................................$8 employee price trans fluid......................................................$16 thats $944 not counting the steel lines and fittings and harware id need. the cross member should be free that a friend of mine can make out of some scrap steel he has laying around. I think Im going to need to sell some more stuff.
I picked up my bell housing, block plate, clutch fork and Pro 5.0 shifter last night. And then I ordered my clutch kit from O'reillys. I went with a slight upgrade over stock. Its a Sachs kit with a 10 puck dual friction disc with standard pressure plate. they also had the heavy duty pressure plate kit with the same disc but Id rather have a little slippage then the extra wear and tear on the trans. heres a link to the kit, http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...=Search_01351_1134065_3571&pt=01351&ppt=C0015, whats cool is it comes with a Cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster for a Mustang. So Ill put the new cable in my 93 LX and sell the quadrant and adjuster for $40 or so and the kit will end up only costing me about $100 after my discount and selling the stuff I dont need.
Fresh WC T5 trans .......................................$320 Clutch set...................................................$152 flywheel......................................................$42 Bell, clutch fork, block plate, Pro 5.0 shifter.......$100 slave cyl., bracket, rod kit..............................$166 Pedal and master cyl.....................................$140 new trans mount..........................................$8 trans fluid...................................................$16 Getting your buddies to help pull the auto trans without making a huge tranny fluid mess..........PRICELESS
You got that right. I bet that never happens again. the part about the no mess or busted knuckles atleast. Im sure my buddies will help again when needed. I just ordered all my hydraulic parts. the pedal assembly, master cylinder, slave cylinder and rod, and the remote reservoir came to $258 shipped. Cheaper than buying direct from CNC. Brings my total parts cost down to $892 now instead of $940. only thing left to buy is hardware and steel lines.
I picked up my dual friction clutch set and flywheel last night. I unloaded the trunk of my Focus last night and made a nice pile of parts in the garage. The car is still up in the air from removing the AOD. I was inches away from calling into work this morning so I could bolt in the clutch set, bell housing and hang the trans in place. If I wouldnt have told my co-worker I'd pick him up this morning I would be in the garage right now getting started on this. Who still thinks I wont be done by Halloween?
