I finally got to primer the shell yesterday. Looks ohkay. Maybe if the doors and fenders and glass and chrome and color were on it would I be a little happier. I just didn't like the clean up. Especially when I put the gallon can down of MEK, that had about 1/10th left in it, down and it splashed 4 feet out of the opening and in slow motion went into my eye.
I ran to the house so I could use the eye wash faucet we have. Someone locked the freggin door!! I rush over to the garden hose and used it after waiting for the hot water to flush out .
I was supposed to use Acetone for clean up according to instructions. I forgot to get some and had already started so I used what I had, MEK. Worked ok but will be better prepaired next go around.
Eye is ok.. Car is progressing. Pic later.

Yea, I know. And I was actually feeling good about it till the incident. I get this down feeling knowing I still need to do the fenders and doors, hoods and trunk.. then do it all over again . I may stop after getting the other stuff primered and haul it all to a painter... The gun I have is ok for primer but not for paint in my opinion. Don't want to have to buy that too..

Jeeze Gene...Lucky you didnt loose an eye!!! MEK fumes alone can blind you. Dont be discouraged by what work lies ahead of you. Instead revel in what you have accomplished knowing the rest will fall into place in good time.

Blu most people use visine to get the red out  Glad you are okay :) I did the same thing but with paint thinner. Can had one of those plastic spots that you pull up and when I did it sprayed all up in my face. It doesn't matter what gets in your eyes it all hurts and is very scarey.

Nice to hear that you found some time and energy and desire to get back to work on the Comet

Looks great........ I'm thinking of shooting mine with hot rod black (satin) single stage urethane $132 bucks for a gal. kit, till I have more time to paint it a proper color...
