I know. I was wanting to remove some pics and edit my garage sale thread. I sold some things and wanted to clean it up a little.
If an account is hacked, they have the password and this doesn't accomplish anything. It does seem that removing the edit after 7 days causes more issues than it solves though. I'm sure Stefan will come up with some solution.
what does the...7 days..have to do with it? can't it be hacked within the 7 days? how do other boards protect against it?
It's not really a big deal but I don't like it either. Perhaps a CAPTCHA could be incorporated. (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart)
When I changed the time limit on editing posts to 7 days, it affected the delete option on posts older than 7 days. I have a prototype modification working to allow you modify posts older than 7 days in certain forums. It needs fine tuning and lots of testing before I can implement it. In the meantime, If you want to delete/edit something, send me a PM. It was work related That sums up the problem we recently faced. It was cracked earlier this year.
I did a post in this thread and could...edit/delete it. the first post in this thread is mine and I can't edit/delete it... does this mean we can only edit/delete new posts? post #11 is mine w/no delete/edit option. this is the 3rd. time I have edited this post... nevermind...I think I got it...Forum Update
