Alright, so I think this is the only part that is past the point of repair. The inner bumper...things. I dont know exactly what you would call them. I am having trouble finding just this piece to replace, but I guess I could have sheet metal shaped? I dont really know the best way to go about this. I'm afraid to take it off right now because I probably wont be able to get it back on =P : http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww69/succubussteph/SANY1319.jpg The rear is just as bad.
That's too bad. I have an excellent pair just sitting in my garage. Maybe you can get a decent pair locally. These get scrapped all the time.
Thats nothing, mine completely split into pieces upon removing. My car had no other rust issues besides the rear impact bar, which was odd it was so badly eaten with rust. I'm going to build my own from sheetmetal and angle iron, using the same dimensions.
Approximate big bumper weights... I'm glad I held on to my big bumper parts. They are in very good condition and I figured it's only a matter of time before someone on here may need them. Yeah they are heavy to ship but in this hobby shipping costs are just a fact of life. I could easily sell for them scrap but would rather see them get used by another member who needs them. I'm the type that would give them away but I need to fund my project as well. I just weighed the front inner bumper at 35lb and the shock mounts weigh 15lb each, the outer shell weighs about 25lb with the bumperettes. The rear are probably about the same. I will keep these until someone wants them.
Man, my '75 had flawless impact bars on it. I just threw mine in the dump, when I removed them, bumpers and all.
I ended up torching the bolts off on mine. Doing a small bumper conversion anyways, but yeah I havent seen many good lookin ones up here in BC. (Might fabricate the big ones Ive got into something small and cuda looking.)
I have a front pair with the center bumper section, Im reconditioning just in case they become extinct. Doing a small bumper conversion also.
