Somewhere in the recesses of my brain, I know this. I really do! :hmmm:

What is the name of the hard plastic pieces that run the length of this area on either side of the car? My Mav didn't come with them. When they were trying to get the carpet out, they didnt realize they had to take the metal strip out first in order to remove the plastic without cracking and breaking it. I want to find these pieces so I can go ahead and order the new carpet. But it's tough to find them when I can't think of the bloody name!

It's been a long time since I stripped my car so my memory of bits and pieces is a little dim but isn't that a plastic cover just inside of the sill plate that covers some of the wire harness heading towards the rear of the car? :hmmm:

Isnt it a piece of cardboard and the carpet tucks over that edge and under the scuff plate??

The guy I bought it from told me they were black plastic pieces and cracked when he was taking them out. I believe him, because the trim that runs behind and in front of this open section has little slots where the pieces would meet. At least, that's how it appears to me.

The carpet goes over that area. You may need the "kick panels". They are forward of the rocker panels and under the dash (sorry don't have a pic right now).

Looks to me like the original cardboard is still there.

I have only found plastic ones on 1970 Mavericks.

I have both cardboard and plastic ones available if needed.

Its tough to explain it via computer. Damn you, technology! You can look in front of it and see the kicker panel, yes? There's a little open slot in it where it seems a corresponding connecting piece of trim would go. I havent seen many interiors on these cars pre-restoration, so I'm not stating that with certainty. It just doesn't look 'right' as just the cardboard there, plus the guy said he took something out (unless he was mistaken. He had several cars sitting on his property)

The only things you are missing that would cover up the cardboard and that hole at the front is:

    1. Front kick panel
    2. Carpet

You need a carpet. Your kick panel is intact looking at the pic. Craig is right your cardboard is still intact as well. The end of your kick panel tucks under the scuff plate like yours is. The carpet will fill in all the rest.
