Every once in awhile....I see this on the board:

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

So how does this happen? How did I miss these threads from before?

Funny thing is I just got back on and this thread popped up exactly the same way.

might be misunderstanding the question but doesn't it just mean that threads that you haven't clicked on previously (haven't read) haven't changed (had posts / comments added) since the last time you viewed the new posts but the posts above the line have been updated since your last visit?

I guess I don't understand how a thread can not be updated...but yet still contain unread posts.

If you personally never read the individual thread before, your browser knows you haven't read it and when you come back and still haven't read it it lets you know it hasn't changed since.
Someone could see this thread and figure it's not of interest so they don't read any of it. When they leave and come back they see new threads posted since their last visit and this one could be unchanged but still be unread by them.

I've notice if you click on "New Post" you will miss a bunch of new threads. Even if you click the "All Maverick/Comet Post" link you will miss them too. I've have started clicking on "Quick Link" then go down and click "Last Day". I don't know how many new post I'm missing doing it this way now but now I do see when MavBot makes a post. Doing things my old way I never seen the MavBot post.

There is a "marking" system for threads/posts that you have read. If you come back to the forum within a certain time period, those threads/posts will show up giving you an opportunity to read them again before they are auto expired by the "marking" system. Hope what I said makes sense.

The "New Posts" link excludes posts from "Ford News" forum (where MavBot posts).

The "All Maverick/Comet" forum is even more restrictive and contains only Maverick/Comet posts.

To get everything, you need to click on the "Last Day" link under the "Quick Links" drop down.

Since the ""New Posts" link apears at the top of the forum and in the "Quick Links" drop down, ill change the one in the "Quick Links" drop down to "All New Posts" to return everything. Ill do it this week....

When I come to the forum.....I click "new posts". I then read all the new posts. Once I have done that...I then click on "new posts" again to see what has been posted while I was reading the other posts. I then read those new posts. I then click on "new posts" again until nothing new shows up.

I don't "sign out" when I leave the board....I just go to my home page. I suppose I need to "sign out" so that the forum knows I have left.

That's exactly what I do. And if I have any PMs I go straight to them first.
I have gotten that same message that you are talking about and I couldn't and can't understand what or why it shows up. So when I see it I click "New Post".
I THINK it may be better with the way Stefan is gonna make it. I start barking when you change too much for this old dog though. :taz:

No need to log out, just click on the "Mark Forums Read" when you are done, located towards the bottom of the forum when viewing the forum index.
