After a 10 year interruption, I finally started working on my 1970 Maverick again. Here are some pics of the state it was in a few months ago. Before the long interruption, we had connected the subframes and notched the shock towers. Originally this car was a 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, 4 lug wheels. It will be a 351W with a C4.

looks like you got some more work ahead of you with the battery tray, or lack of lol. same as my car was..this was the funnest part for me, the tear town and start to patch things back up. good luck..looks pretty solid besides the usual tray.

    Battery Tray Repair completed

I am actually a little further along than my first post indicated. I intended to post a follow up right away, but that didn't quite happen.

I have already repaired the battery tray. Since I plan to move the battery to the trunk, I decided to get rid of the tray altogether.

Now I am putting the front suspension back together along with a disc brake conversion.

With the stripes on it...looks like a 1970 Grabber.

I'm not sure if it is a grabber. What is the best way to tell?

Go to my website and look for the link to the 1970 Ford Maverick Registry. This will give you the items to look for. I see the stripes and the sport mirrors.

I was thinking the same thing.
    I wish I could find a 70 grabber.
    Keep the progress coming!

Well, it seems to match all of the grabber features except for the headlight doors. One of the front fenders was obviously replaced at some point since it is missing the stripe, so maybe they replaced both headlights to match?

    Very possible.

So it has the rear spoiler, all black interior, and the tail panel is painted black? The hood doesn't have the correct 1970 Grabber stripe.

Yes, it has the all black interior. The rear is a little more interesting, as you can see, the spoiler is there, but it seems to have been painted black on top of the original color and much of the black has come off. Is it possible that it was painted orange under black from the factory?

Yep...that is exactly how it is done at the factory.

Sure looks like a REAL Grabber to me.
