From what little time i have had to drive it up-n-down the road, it seems to be scary fast. About to head up to the shop and start back in on the body, i set up the booth for next Saturday so i have to kick it in gear, theres alot of black paint mist and blocking to be done yet. Any volunteer's ?

Wow....what an old thread. It was interesting to go back and see who posted responses over the years. Kind of a "Where Are They Now" moment!!

So where in Indiana are you located?

Well lets get this out of your system then, go out to your car and take both front fenders off, loosen the door hinge bolts - open the doors - give a good shake, then try to realign everything, after two days of staring at body lines you'll never want to do body work again. :rofl2:

Fenders are one thing but I NEVER want to remove the doors unless I absolutely have to.

My body People, after the fender is removed the door hanging is easy. With the door hung the fender a line ment is tough (y).:16suspect There is a door handler that goes in the floor jack ,makes it easy to hang doors.

Removing fenders and doors is nothing to be afraid of. As stated, with the fender out of the way the door is very easy to remove and reinstall. You adjust the door to fit at the qtr panel and make sure all of your gaps are nice and even. I normally use a couple of paint paddles under the door to make a good gap. You have access to all of the hinge bolts to adjust any way you need. Once your door is fitting like you want, then you reinstall the fender to fit the door and hood. It's all a little tedious but I actually like putting one back together. I'm restoring one of my Stallions right now and I have it all apart. I'm looking forward to getting the paint on it so I can start the reassembly.

Sounds easy enough, but last night i had to take the LF fender off like 10 times ( i'm a motor guy and i hate body work ) make a slight adjustment to the door and remount fender ----- Still not right, take the fender back off and start all over, after fighting it all night i finally ended up with a happy medium.

Pretty much what you have to do. These cars won't pass the ball bearing test. They are Maveicks....not Mercedes-Benz.

Luckily I didnt have to hang any panels on mine. My buddy Tim in the body shop insisted on doing all the panels. Hes a pro and makes it look easy. We have people bring cars in just for him to line up panels. Just did a little Tbird and it turned out the rear frame was twisted. Barrett Jackson car at that. He got it all lined up in the end.
