Heyyyyyyy!!!! I'm going to work on it. I am, I am. Right after............ and then after............... crap, Im not going to do anyhting. But I have an excuse, or two. I work 2 jobs, have a baby at home, and a wife that dosnt understand the car addiction. Its an up hill battle guys. And right now my In-Laws are in town for 2 weeks. might not be done by thanksgiving. My new goal is to have it done by New Years.
I DID do car stuff this weekend. Went Junkyardin with the father in law. We were hunting down cadillac stuff for him and Mustang stuff for my driver. I found quite a few little things to finish up the project daily driver. Went to a few different yards and didnt see a single Maverick enywhere.
So that makes 2 of you with too much money burning a hole in your pocket. Just take half the money youd spend on a stroker kit and put that towards better heads than you have or are originally thinking about getting. Have them ported better and port matched. All the cubes dont matter if you arent getting more air into them. I know alot of Mustang guys and they are as fast or faster than what you guys want to do and with a 306 engine with Nicely worked heads. Or just get a 351 and matching intake and distributor and use the rest of the parts you already have. Will still be cheaper and just as many cubes. the stroker craze baffles me. But I learned that the hard way.
Thanks tony. Resto, ill let you know. Ryan, i cant run spray in the class i run and i have a good set of heads. And i want to run 91 pump gas to keep the costs of racing down. Race gas costs to much. I got my car down to 12.3s @ 110. not to bad on 91 oct. A few more cubes should get me where i want to be. Ease up dude before you blow a gasket
And it didn't cost that much. $1066 to my door. Did a lot of shopping around. Best deal I could get. And it has a SCAT crank.
Is it already Balanced? My kit was about $1000 shipped, then i had all the parts individually balanced, then had it spin balanced with the balancer and flexplate. Then the cylinders notched and bored. It added up real quick. But with the 331 you shouldnt have to notch the cylinders and your bore is probably already where it should be.
Being that it's a race motor i'm having the whole block reworked. Zero decked, torque plate bored. Line hone the mains, the works. I want this one to last.
Good for you...this is so cool Robbie! Can't wait to hear, and see this one. Perfect project for our mild winter out here.
Any of them that are ported and gasket matched. Victor jr., AFR, TFS, Brodix. they each have their benefits out of the box. but in the hands of a great machinist he can make them all better and just as good as each other in the end. Even my trick Flow heads look to have pretty small intake openings. If these were opened up to match even an unported intake manifold I would be gaining quite a bit of power. of course the exhaust needs to be done also. Id like to have my trick flows gasket matched and a ported and matched Air Gap manifold and see what it will do.
