cold air induction

Im trying to come up with some ideas to funnel cold air into my carb using some spectre cold air intake parts.

ideas that have come to mind:

*getting cold air from the battery vent
*cowl vent
*outer fender
*take out one head light and replace it with a headlight funnel and run a 4inch duct to the carb
(prolly wouldnt be the best idea for the street but would look cool , to me at least)

any other ideas and tips would be great

if i can think of any other places i will take pics of them and post them

 

could just get one of those big harwood forced induction scoops...or cut a hole in the hood for one of those mr gasket screet scoops with the butterfly's

 

i get sick on my stomach when i think about cutting my hood , + i like the look of my flat hood better than scoops

 

Take your hood off.

 

If my hood wasnt cut with the GT scoop I'd move the battery to the trunk and duct the breather to the rad support where the Batt. was. I'm big on getting cool air into the motor instead of all that super heated air packed under the hood.

Mine is EFI but I pull air into a hand built air box that bolts to the holes that held the battery tray. The snorkle from the air cleaner points that direction and mine still had the plastic air horn that attached to the tray before the conversion.

 

I've been wondering if a plastic inner fender from a newer car could be fitted to the Maverick front fenders creating a chamber in front and above it and drawing cold air from that chamber thru the apron.

Stuff under my hood gets so hot you can't hold your hand on it very long.

my dads 37 chrysler royal has panels with louvers in them to draw out the heat and vent it under the vender, sumthin like that might work.

 

I cut a hole on the front edge of the cowl...My air box is sealed and goes into the hole

I figure the Nascar guys know something

I always loved the dual snorkel air cleaner on the '84-'85 GT Mustangs....Pretty hard to find now

 

could i run it to the cowl on the inside of the driver compartment i threw out all my AC stuff.

 

i would use a dual snorkel air cleaner. they are not hard to make out of two. then run ducting up to the battery vent and to the other side of the radiator support. i would cut a hole in the radiator support to match on both sides. this should have a good cold ram air effect at freeway speeds.

...or you could go with a six cylinder and use the factory cold air pack.
