This is what mine look like as well. Ive been leaving this for the very end, and well I am at the end and im dreading it. Heres for wingin it.
i will try next year to install a wheel lip from a new patch of a classic mustang. they cost around 41 dlls. cheaper and easier than fabricate them.
if its surface rust id grind it all off with an air grinder then use prepsol to get off any grease and or dust then use red brown primer after that get some POR 15 thats what i used on my wheel lip but i had to make my own lower quarter panel section since my was rotted out but keep me posted on whats going on
I have a piece about 2' long. One end is the end of a switch track, it is rounded off. Other end is square cut. Lots of different angles and surfaces to rough out a panel on. Don't know if any of the edges are sharp enough for a wheel lip though......
this might sound stupid but i think the front fender lips are the same.i took a piece of cardboard and made a templet and it looks right.we bought some fenders the other day that are way better than the ones that were on the car and im hopeing they work.has anybody tryed this?
I think that would be the most logical. If you fab them you will need a shrinker/stretcher. I don't think Mustang wheel openings would be good for much unless you enlarged the openings and used the body line for a custom Mustang style flare....several members have enlarged their wheel openings to the body line.
its not a perfect fit but the front fenders were pretty messed up and i got a different set for cheep enough.its funny how close they are.i did have to cut out a small piece to get the body lines right.the piece was only 1''at the bottom and 1 5/8''at the top.i guess i cant post the pics.because i put them up on my father and son build post.
hopefully these will work.it looks like i have to take more pics.i was really suprised how good they worked.im hopeing to get some more done sunday and ill take some better pics.
