Here are the weights listed on an article I found. To be honest I think they weigh more. 1974 Maverick 2844 (V8) 2781 (I6)
It's been found through the years that there is quite a bit of variation in curb weight between the cars. Your best bet is to head to the scales and see what yours weighs.
My 71 with the old iron head 302, half tank of gas, spare tire, toolbox, full interior plus me at 240lbs was 2840lbs on a certified scale.
Weighed mine last year at the track...was 3176 with me(215lbs) installed! Thats with a 351w, a 9" and a full stereo(including subs)...better than I thought it would be!
My 72 weighed in the mid-2800s (2840 IIRC) and this was with a 351W with alum. intake (weighs the same as a 302 with an iron intake), no engine accessories (air and PS stripped out), and front disc brakes. I think you can add about 70 lbs for A/C if original equipment. Later cars got crash bars in the doors and very heavy bumpers.
YES!! They're so heavy I was concerned about bending the frame around the glass when lifting them all assembled.
I just posted in another thread that late model doors weigh 48 lbs with the glass. How much does the early door weigh?
I have a door from a '72 on my '71's driver side with the crash bar and it weighs a good 10lbs more than the door I pulled off that was heavily damaged from some kid in an SUV.
Jeff are you sure about a late door weighing 48 lbs? I just weighed the 1972 door I have out there. This is complete with glass, interior panel (but no armrest), and hinges. It came in at 76 lbs! I knew that felt heavier than 50lbs .... been moving it around the garage a couple times/year ...
